In Loving Memory of Sheri Kucinskas (1967 – 2025)
Sheri Kucinskas loved the outdoors and nature. She embodied the term, “Tree Hugger”, and would literally hug trees. She encouraged them, and told them that they were, “doing a good job”. Her enthusiasm for outdoor adventure was infectious in spite of the many years of fighting relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Even when her MS symptoms were at their worst she kept a positive attitude and did everything she could to live life on her terms. Still, in spite of her fighting spirit, on February 25, 2025, Sheri passed away at home in Kailua, Hawaii. Though our hearts are heavy, we all find comfort in knowing that the pain and discomfort she felt due to her disease had finally ended.
Born in Torrington, Connecticut to John and Peggy, Sheri grew up in a moderately large family. Having five brothers and sisters (Debbie, Joey, Linda, Mark, and Kevin), Sheri was the youngest by several years. She had a love of books, animals, living healthy, and had worked many completely different types of jobs over the years, including; Program Assistant, Technical Writer, Editorial Assistant, Food Research & Development Technician, and Quality Control Analyst.
With her bubbly personality, Sheri made friends everywhere she went. She was the kind of friend who would correspond with a physical birthday card even when technology made snail-mail unnecessary. Sheri also didn’t shy away from programming her VCR (before DVRs existed), or adopting reading on her Kindle almost the moment it came on the market. Her life-long friend Darcy and her exchanged letters and cards until Sheri was physically unable to.
She leaves behind her devoted best friend and life-parter of 22 years, Marc. She is also survived by her brother, (also named) Mark
, and her nieces and nephews; Sarah, Jonathan, Craig, Eric, Lauren, Jaime, and Kim.
There will be two celebrations of Sheri’s life; One will be on Oahu, where her ashes will be spread in Maunalua Bay by her fellow paddlers. This will likely take place in late July 2025. The other event will be with her remaining family in the New England area, in joint-celebration of her brother Joey and sister Debbie, both of which had also recently passed. *[Information will be updated on sherikuz.com as it becomes available]
Sheri Kucinskas may no longer be among us, but her love, laughter, and fortitude will echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
Please enjoy the blog she left behind at sherikuz.com. Marc will continue add some of her off-line writings and photographs to the blog over the next few months, as well, to share in her memory.
